Monson Road joins Mount Pleasant Road opposite the Congregational Church and between the Civic Centre and the Opera House. It once housed the town's indoor swimming pool, where I learnt to swim many years ago. This has sadly now been demolished following the building of the St John's Swimming Pool in the 1970s.
In this card, posted in 1906 (Number 23257, published by Photochrom) the Public Baths are on the left, Opera House on the right and the Congregational Church in the centre distance.
Here is a view of P Peters China & Glass Store, 18 & 20 Monson Road, taken from the 15th edition of the Pelton Guide to Tunbridge Wells (1896). The attractive balustrade in front of the balcony can also be seen on the right of the image above.
