Apart from historic photographs, unless otherwise stated, all photos on this site were taken by members of my family. Please don't republish them without my permission. Thanks. © 2008 Mark Collins 10-06-2010 | Barnstaple Town Station ~ Lynton & Barnstaple Railway ~ Devon The Lynton & Barnstaple Railway shared the Town station with the London & South Western Railway, whose line from Barnstaple Junction Station crossed the River Taw on a curved viaduct into Barnstaple Town station and then on to Ilfracombe. This line too is now closed and the viaduct across the river has been demolished; many would say this has been a major improvement in the view from the quay as the viaduct was not an architectural gem! Click here to return to the Lynton & Barnstaple Route Map. Here is the station, now a restaurant, on 12th July 2003. Behind the building, a remnant of the station canopy still remains. Please ask before reusing my pictures elsewhere - thanks. |
