St Peter's church was built in 1892 by Lacy W. Ridge in the Perpendicular style. There is a small bell cote at the west end and flying buttresses above the porch on the west front. It replaced an earlier church (by William Moseley), that was a Chapel of Ease to Hartfield built in 1836.
Nowadays it is part of the United Benefice of Cowden, Hammerwood & Holtye.
When I visited the grave stones were surrounded by a carpet of snowdrops. The flying buttresses make a nice feature at the west end.
