Looking down the site of the Long Walk - 12th June 1999

This is a picture we took of the garden before we purchased the house, so it is in completely unimproved condition!  The Elaeagnus Pungens Maculata  bush in the centre of the picture is about the only thing recognisable in the view from the same place today.  The gate, apple tree, conifer and Rhododendron are all gone replaced with long herbaceous borders each side of the Long Walk.

Click here for a comparison with the view in March 2000.

And, looking from the other end, May 2003 here.
