Rusthall is my mother's childhood home and she remembers happy times playing on the Common.
This is an artist drawn postcard by F W Burton, posted in 1914 and published by J Salmon of Sevenoaks.
Here is a view of the church from the common, number 38159 in the Valentine's series. The trees have grown so much that a similar view would be impossible today.
This view of the church from the east was painted by A R Quinton and was published on card number 1238 by J Salmon of Sevenoaks.
The next two views are published by Stengel & Co. of Berlin, which dates them prior to 1914.
The first is No. 14676 and shows a view of the common with the church in the background.
The next is No. 14677.
