Rottingdean windmill is a black Smock Mill believed to date from 1802, which milled until 1881. She now stands as a major landmark on the Downs on the coast road to Brighton, overlooking a Pitch & Putt golf course.
I took this photo while visiting St Margaret's Church, Rottingdean.
Here is the section containing the mill at the photo's original resolution.
I have been provided with information about various Sussex windmills from Simon Potter who runs a brilliant site about Sussex Mills.
More information on this and other wind and water mills may be found on the excellent Windmill World site.
Check out my other windmill photographs in my Windmill Album.
