Alan with his mum, Vera, at Great Dixter, Sussex

This photo was taken on 1st July 2000 on a day out with Alan's mum, Vera, to gardening expert Christopher Lloyd's home at Great Dixter in Sussex. His garden has been described as a cottage garden but on a large scale, however Christopher loves to experiment with colour combinations and unusual planting combinations.  It is a lovely place - and the house is quite fantastic!
