Crocosmia, Severn Sunrise - 22nd August 2003

Family Iridaceae; Genus Crocosmia

Crocosmia (previously known as Montbretia)  is one of my favourite plants, and there are many different varieties available.  We bought this one in 2002 - unfortunately we've planted it a little far back in the border, so it will be moved after the flowering season is finished.

Just on a point of interest Crocosmia means 'safron smell'.

The picture was taken after the flowers were past their best, but it is a nice variety.
