Church of the Good Shepherd, Five Ashes, Sussex - 31st December 2003

This tiny (Anglican) church is very quaint.  It was built as an offshoot to the Mayfield Parish in 1921 during the incumbency (at Mayfield) of the Rev. G. C. Pitt-Johnson.

Church of the Good Shepherd, Five Ashes, Sussex - 31st December 2003 - MTC

The Eastbourne Aviation Company was founded in 1900 and over 200 Avro fighter planes were built at their works at the eastern end of Eastbourne during the 1914-18 war.  When the site closed, one of the buildings was transported to Five Ashes and converted into this little church.  My thanks to Rosalind Hodge for this information.
