The original church, built in 1904 of red brick, was consecrated in 1905, becoming an independent parish church in 1925. Timothy West, the famous actor, was baptised in the church. The building was demolished in the summer and autumn of 2004 and replaced with what you can see below.
The picture below, sourced from the church website, shows the much more attractive building here in the 1950's before it was replaced with the more useful but hideously ugly replacement buildings which include social housing. What a shame it wasn't converted rather than replaced.
